Department of English

The Department of English sprouted its roots in the year 2010.The department offers a main graduate programme in English Language and Literature which comprises 14 core papers, one elective, one open course, one project, 2 complimentary papers and 6 common papers. We consider, enriching our students with communication and reading skills, as the central objective of this programme. The department serves as a guide to those who want to explore the world of literature. The department plays an active role in the co-curricular activities of the college. Every year the Department plays a leading role in department fest, tours, and seminars. Under the department, we have various clubs such as Literary Club, Drama Club, Quiz and Debate club, Film Club and Library Club to enrich students' knowledge through activities. The department aims to prepare every student professionally fit for placement programmes in upcoming years.

To foster knowledge and skills in English with an emphasize on literature and language, for accomplishing competent graduates who can contribute effectively and responsibly to society.

Mission

To make the students competent in their job seeking, job-getting and job- holding needs. The course shall cater to equipping the students in comprehensive language enhancement. The students will be able to establish an endearing rapport with the cultural aspects of the living environment.
