Department of Microbiology

Our department is committed to providing high-quality education and training in the field of Microbiology. We offer programs that are designed to prepare students for careers in research, academia, and industry. The Postgraduate Department of Microbiology started with the aim for the upliftment of the individuals of the rural through scientific enlightening. The department was started in 2003 as the pioneer department with B.Sc.Microbiology course. Since 2009, it also offers the Master’s Course in Microbiology. At present, the department has seven well qualified and dedicated faculties. Our faculty teach a wide portfolio of Microbiology courses at the postgraduate and graduate levels. Our faculty members are experienced professionals who bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the classroom. They are dedicated to helping students develop a strong foundation in the principles and practices of Microbiology, as well as to promoting critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and scientific inquiry. Total intake capacity of the UG and PG programs is 36 and 12 respectively. Our department is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, including advanced microscopy equipment,Molecular Biology labs, Bioinformatics lab and specialized facilities. We also maintain partnerships with a range of academic and industry partners, providing students with access to real- world experiences and opportunities to apply their skills in a professional setting. Our department play important role in academic and extra curricular activities. The department Association was named as Chiasma – Crossing Over of Ideas and Minds, that arranges various infotainment and entertainment programs that mesmerizes whole college since 2013. To explore the potential applications of microbiology in areas such as Environmental Microbiology, Food and Dairy Microbiology, Industrial Microbiology, Immunology, Medical Microbiology, Genetic Engineering, Soil and Agricultural Microbiology, Biotechnology, Bioremediation, and Bioenergy.
To provide high-quality education and training to students at all levels, from undergraduate to post graduate, in the principles and techniques of microbiology.
To engage with the wider community, including healthcare professionals, policymakers, and the general public, to promote awareness and understanding of the importance of microbiology in human health and the environment.
